Tag Heuer timepieces for the lucky shoppers at KLIA.

They came, they shopped, they won! Five lucky Malaysians, who started off by merely shopping at the KL International Airport, will be the proud owners of attractive Tag Heuer timepieces, courtesy of MasterCard, the "Official Card" and Partner for the KLIA Shopping "Real Value Real Style" A World of Celebrations campaign.

This is one of the highlights of a presentation ceremony and media luncheon hosted by Encik Umar Bustamam, General Manger Commercial Services, Malaysia Airports on April 19th 2006. The event is a special occasion to Malaysia Airports as it marks the resounding success of its five-month shopping campaign billed as the KLIA Shopping "Real Value Real Style" A World of Celebrations campaign. Held from 4th November 2005 to 31st March 2006, it was designed to reward the consummate shopper when they made purchases within the airport premises. Special festive promotions held during the Hari Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year celebrations and the Formula 1 season also made for an exciting atmosphere.

20 timepieces from Tag Heuer watches were among the fabulous prizes up for grabs in the campaign's Shop & Unwrap The Nuggets Contest. Our winners namely Faizal Karim, Elizabeth Su Niew Nang, Suman Menon a/l Gopinathan, Ting Chang Kok & Ting Yu Huk and Kamarul Zaman bin Khalid, smartly took time out to obtain the entry forms and participated. It looks like their efforts have paid off as they were presented with the watches which cost a total of RM25,000. Two others who also struck gold are Cheng Kok Seng and Captain Norziah who have each won a Rocaille Continental Furnishing gift costing RM1,000 each in the same contest.

The other contests held were the Premier Contest which offered a luxury Mercedes E-200K as top prize and the F1 Contest whereby four couples stood to win tickets to catch the Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, China. Winners of these contests will be announced by June 31st 2006.

Malaysia Airports is happy to note that incentives such as these have prompted more people to make purchases at the airport. For the Premier contest, the number of entries received totaled an astounding 28,541 as compared to 6,000 received in 2004 for the KLIA Shopping Discover Malaysia Campaign.

As for the Shop & Unwrap The Nuggets Contest, entries amounted to 20,799! Even the F1 contest received a total number of 4,003 entries from obvious sports fans. The wonderful response has proven that the campaign has gained momentum and the desired awareness has been achieved. The success of all our endeavors would not have been possible without the strong support from the media. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your relentless cooperation.

"KLIA was recently voted 'World's Best Airport' for the 15 to 25 million passengers per annum category in the 2005 AETRA awards. This is an added feather to our cap. It goes to show that dreams do come true but not without a lot of hard work and dedication, of course. With this, Malaysia Airports hopes to achieve its vision in making KL International Airport a top aviation hub in the region and uphold the country's good image in the international arena as well," said Encik Umar Bustamam as the event was concluded.

Malaysia Airports manages and operates 39 airports in Malaysia: 5 international, 16 domestic and 18 short take-off and landing ports (STOL Ports). On November 30, 1999, Malaysia Airports became the first airport company to be listed in Asia. Malaysia Airports' core activities are the management, operations and maintenance of designated airports and provision of airport-related services throughout Malaysia. Malaysia Airports has also been entrusted to host the 2008 World Routes Development Forum, the first airport operator in Asia to be given the honour of hosting this world-class airport-airlines event. KLIA is considered one of the top 10 airports in Asia Pacific and is well connected to all continents making it a melting pot that converges and diverges all at once. Malaysia Airports is fully committed to the national goal of making KLIA a regional hub, with currentl 50 airlines operating at KLIA.
